Yeah learning backflips is totally about getting rid of fear. It doesn't take much skill at all. Here are a few things I did to get rid of my fear: 1. Do backwards rolls: not that useful because it's not scary at all. Just squat down and roll backwards (not like reverse-parkour roll, just go straight over your head). Use your hands to take weight off your neck. Doing these off of an elevated surface (like a bed) makes them much more effective. 2. Backflip off a swing: This is probably what helped my fear the most. This move itself is kind of scary to try, but as long as you hold on until the last second there's no way you'll land on your head. You can do this without tucking at first, then start adding a tuck because it helps you get good at spotting your landing in real backflips. 3. Learn front flips: this will help if you have any fear of going over your head in general. However, this move is MUCH harder then the backflip physically, its just less scary cuz you can see where you're going when you jump. I'm not going to explain front flips here tho. 4. After this one you will have no more fear: use a practice mat if u have one available (it's more like flat ground than a trampoline is) and get a spotter (or two). The spotters will support your back to keep you up longer and can push your legs up to help you tuck. I started doing backflips with two spotters. One of them was good and one of them sucked, so soon we moved on to 1 spotter. Once you can land on your feet with one spotter, have them start doing less and less. What I told my friend to do was spot me 5 times or so and then surprise me by not telling me and just not spotting me. But right when I did the first one he didn't spot me and I landed it fine. Then I had NO fear of it and it feels awesome. You just have to believe me: As long as you jump kinda high and you tuck tight, the worst that will happen is that you land on your hands and knees. Never underestimate the power of tucking hard. It helps your rotation sooo much. Sorry for the long post but I hope that helps
