My friend has recommended ab workouts because they do that regularly. I'd just like some more tips whither they are workouts or things I can be practicing with a broom handle. Please be specific and give detailed directions. Thank you so much for your time! :j

Color guard is amazing. I've been doing it for 3 years and it's been such a positive experience. If you don't already, I recommend eating well and drinking a lot of water also stretch regularly and maybe do some push ups or other arm exercises to build upper body strength.

to the person who said it's military, I think they're thinking of a different type of guard. My color guard is very ballet-ish we do a lot of fluid dance and very advanced flag work.

I started color guard last marching season and we won first place grand national BOA Bands of America in Atlanta. In my opinion, the best advice I can give you is practicing flag technique like drop spins or peggy spins. If you don't know technique, try stretching every day, do your best to become more flexible. Create goals like getting all of your splits down. Flexibility helps tone, strengthen and gain muscle. Running a couple times a week will also help you out. But remember, go slow and easy you don't want to rip or over-stretch any muscles! Good Luck! :)

Since most color guards are based on the way the military does things I suggest you see if you can find an army field manual ( FM 22-5). This will outline in detail what the exact moves and steps to accomplish all their tasks.
