I wouldn't never recommend wearing clothing like demin short to dance but if that is the only option you have then that's what you wear. You could wear bike shorts or leggings if you have them. As soon as you can though I wold go and buy some dance appropriate clothing. You probably won't get in trouble because its your first class but if she says something to you don't wear them again.

I think it would be in your best interest to wear something more comfortable. Denim shorts are OK, but they will restrict your movement, and may cause chaffing depending on how you move and if you sweat. I know in my hip hop dance class, we would stretch - and stretching may rip your jeans.
So, I suggest changing in to something more giving - even if it is just pajama bottoms or swim shorts - anything is better than something that clings tight to your skin.

You can't wear denim shorts to dance in. They'll restrict your movement, be super uncomfortable, they might rip, you'll definitely chafe. Get to a store before class, or borrow something from a friend. Another poster suggested pajama pants.. A good last resort. There is a man in my ballet class who sometimes wears pajama pants.
