My first year on pointe, they wouldn't let us use anything but Ouch Pouch becasue they are the best for begginers. But really, it depends on how long your pointe class is. I am three years into pointe and I have tried other kinds, but Ouch Pouch is my personal fave :D
How long is your class? That would be helpful to know. I have an hour class and Ouch Pouch (the original) work great.
maybe it's all for the best.

i use ouch pouches because i have bunions and that is a brand that makes toe pads for those. therefore i would recommend ouch pouches they look thin but really do work. they have gel within them i believe plus they are a nice feeling material that isn't uncomfortable in my pointe shoe. if those do not work as well as you were wanting you could also add in lambs wool into your pouch and then put it on your feet. also there is another form of comfort i think it is like mole skin or something, not sure but you could ask a dance store or your pointe teacher.
just know that no matter how much comfort you have it will still hurt your toes a little because all of your body weight is forced onto them resulting in some small or large quantity of pain.

I'd recommend Pro Pads by Bunheads. They are like an Ouch Pouch with the fabric covered gel on the top of the foot, but the part that sits on the sole of the foot is just thin fabric. I prefer this as I don't think it's necessary to have gel under the ball of your foot and with just the fabric I can feel the floor better and feel more stable.

Gels
Many professionals I have asked have said Gels are better by far,
ouch pouches are rubbish, just a litter thicker than a sock.
As for feeling and sweaty? Would you rather to be a little sweaty with okay toes, or dry and have bleeding toes.
I have recently swapped to Gels and they are much, much more protective.

DEFINITLY ouch pouches. the jelly ones will form like a suction cup and get gross and silmy when you sweat in them. The ouch pouches let your toes breath, and it is actually healthier. also, you can easily wash them, which is def a plus. they are just more comfortable all over. this is the only kind i wil buy and i love them.
