I'm not sure what you mean by "salsa group"? Is it lessons or just a group of people that get together to dance?
If you're not taking a class you may consider doing so. If in NYC, Sandra Cameron Dance is great, but there are many others. Dancing takes work and time to get better and feel more confident. The best advice an intructor gave me and my wife was to practice on your own - not with a partner at all. That way you get confident in your steps as an individual, this is particularly important for women, as they can tend to rely too much on the lead. You are able to get your own balance and then bring it back to dancing with partners.
Now, if it's a personality issue - tell them how you feel, if they don't respond favorabley go get new friends. Why spend time with people that make you feel bad. Life is too good for that.

Salsa can be a complicated dance depending on how advanced you want to be. 4 hours a week is not very long at all. If you want to be a good dancer, you have to practice at least 1-2 hours a day. If you don't have one, you may want to consider finding a partner. Salsa is a couples dance mostly and if you have a partner that you always dance with then you will find your skills quickly improving! My husband and I dance together and we have a blast!

If you love to dance keep dancing in this group while looking around for another more friendly group to join. If you don't love to dance perhaps leaving the salsa group would be the best idea.

No...Definately don't quit. I've just learned how from my Spanish teacher. It's really fun if you can find a great guy who knows how to dance. I did and then we went to my school's dance together. It was great because everyone was like WOW!! Where did you learn how to do that? Find a guy who will go to class with you and then I promise it will be much better and it will be so fun! Good Luck!

try to find a friendlier group ,if you don't fell OK there you will probably end up hating those people and the dance. why should you give up your passion ? if you enjoy what you do fight for your dream.
