Anyone know any good songs for a lyrical/modern/jazz type solo?

The song needs to be appropriate (no cussing or suggestive stuff), and atleast 2 minutes long.

I have been dancing for 14 years. A GREAT song for lyrical is Colorblind by Counting Crows. It is very emotional. Another one is called Red Rain by Peter Gabirel. They are both very good songs for dancing and easy to choreograph to. Happy dancing!

This is for a dance piece, right? Check out David Sanborn's "Flight" from the album "Taking Off." It is a long piece of music, but pretty easy to deal with--(this will make more sense when/if you hear it) and it's a piece that translates well. It's got a rich, textured sound, but it won't upstage the choreography. I just looked up the album because I had forgotten the name of the track, and I saw that Dave Matthews wrote this and a couple other tracks on the album! Trippy! I think it was released in 1975. What was he, like 5 years old at the time?
Anyway, good luck in your search. If I think of any other pieces you might be able to use, I will let you know. Most of all, HAVE FUN!!

a lot of times dave matthew has great songs for that kind of dance. I can relate ..... it;s hard to find the right song. If you are going for a softer dance i would recomend checking out some disney songs... they have some really good songs for dance. Also i once did a lyrical solo to and aly and aj song you dont know what its like from the movie read it and weep. Another great song is Upside Down (Remix) from the albumn Sing-a-Longs and Lullabies for the Film Curious George by Jack Johnson & Money Mark

Have you ever heard of Cirque du Soleil? Well if you haven't they are a performing group. They perform in Las Vegas and Europe. But see what's neat is that all their songs are unique and dancable...plus there is no actual language. But the words are beautiful. So for my segestion...anything from Cirque du Soleil. They have many different shows so I would look at Alegria, KA, and O. Alegria has a beautiful piece on it called Alegria. Yeah it has the same name. And KA...Pageant is upbeat and fun. For O...Jeux d'eau and O. another same name. But I got them off of iTunes and I'm sure you can buy the CDs at the store. Good Luck with your solo!

Good songs for a lyrical/modern piece are 'Let Go' or 'Breath in' by Frou Frou. They both have a pretty melody and a slow and steady pace.
