Does lip-syncing in a dance look bad?
I am trying to choreograph to a medley of madonna songs . im trying to make it like a tribute to madonna and my idea is to have dancers who actually dance , but one person will always be lip-syncing the song to make madonna like a character in my choreography. i hear all the time its a bad idea to mouth the words, but why? it doesn't look bad when pop artists dance and lip-sync on stage.

It doesn't necessarily look "bad" but it does distract from the actual dance itself because people are looking at your mouth instead of your body. Also it could confuse and mess you up when you are dancing because it will interfere with the counts in your head.

I don't think it looks bad if the dancer is meant to do it. Also if it is a group and she is the only one lip syncing she should definitely be in the front and centered on in the middle and make it clear that it is a featured dancer and not just one of the regular dancers in the group that just wants to sing the lyrics. If it is a solo just have it be obvious that the dancer is meant to do that. Same with the group.

I think the reason some people think it looks bad is because:

They think it looks unprofessional

They think the dancer formed a habit of lip syncing

But as long as the dancer makes it nice and big and looks like it was meant to do that in the choreography, I think it's fine.

See there. I reported a pair of weeks in the past a stay overall performance does not unavoidably propose somebody is making a track stay all entertainers lip sync in some unspecified time sooner or later in there overall performance. enormously people who do a great type of dancing. yet with Paula she lip sync all the way via hers. I propose all that vehicle-tuning. Her mic replace into certainly on while she began speaking to make it appear like she genuinely sung the track. lol I specific would opt to be attentive to what she appeared like making a track in that mic without that music playing. additionally I agree, Paula shouldn't additionally be a choose on a vocal opposition enormously while in her early occupation her voice wasn't all that, she replace into greater of a dancer.

I personally think it looks bad because it seems like the dance was choreographed to words instead if counts and it's also heard, especially for younger dancers to concentrate on the words and still keep dancing with the rhythm and it usually leads to people either forgetting the dance or getting off count and making the whole dance look sloppy.

It doesn't look bad in certain dances but with some dances it looks really bad and a Madonna dance I would be careful because it may not look right
